290 What Do You Expose Yourself To

This is Anne with your Coaching on the Go.

Today, I have a couple of questions for you to get started.

Do you watch the news every day?

Do you listen to news programming?

Do you watch shows about things that are happening in the real world to keep yourself informed?

What do you do outside of your world to connect yourself with the broader world?

And how is that affecting your emotions?

Because remember, you create with your emotions more than any other thing that you create with.

I remember feeling like I had a duty and obligation to watch the news.

I stopped watching the news a long time ago.

I don’t watch any news shows and I trickled away from it over time.

I would peek at them once in a while.

Then I would still find myself on Facebook seeing an article and popping it open.

Because they have different ways to track your behaviors you start getting more and more of the things that you’ve been looking at just kind of like the quantum field.

They’ve got analytics now that do that with information.

If you like watching things about certain shocking news stories there will be plenty for you coming to you through Facebook or the internet.

As you start scrolling, you’ll see more and more and more of it.

Today I looked up a news article online on a website that just talked about a study that was done on the effects of watching something shocking or uncomfortable, related to the news.

People who watched something positive or neutral, maintained their mood, and their state of being.

People who watched the news went down to a depressed state after 15 minutes.

It only took that much per day to influence the way that they conducted themselves and the way they felt.

What are you willing to expose yourself to daily that has nothing to do with the direction you’re moving in?

What toll does that take on you?

In this case, I’m just talking about the news because it is a litany of things that are not going right.

When you draw your attention to the things that aren’t going the way you wish, it interrupts your pattern of emotion.

Even a movie.

What kinds of movies do you expose yourself to?

What are the feelings in those movies because movies engulf you with a plotline?

And remember, your reticular activating system doesn’t know if you’re experiencing this for real or if you’re experiencing it through your mind.

Today I’m just tasking you with being mindful about what you expose yourself to when you’re preparing for your big ideas, and you want to be in the flow and you want some entertainment, or you want to just have something given to you from the outside.

What are you choosing there?

And what could you choose that would continue to move you in a direction…in the feelings and emotions that are going to be promoting your big vision?
