326 You Are Not A Perfectionist
This is Anne with your Coaching On The Go.
Fear often disguises itself when you’re seeking to grow, to get to the next level.
It’s a powerful and complex emotion, and it shows up in so many different ways.
Depending on your personality type, you pick one or two, or five of these, or maybe all of them, and use them as mechanisms to describe who you are versus looking into these and seeing what they’re keeping you from.
Today I’m talking about perfectionism.
Do you describe yourself as a perfectionist?
To me, perfectionists use that term because of their personality type, and it reflects, a classier version of procrastination. (haha)
When you’re perfect, you’re discerning.
It’s still keeping you from the same things that all these other things are keeping you from.
The fear of not measuring up, and the fear of making mistakes can lead people to perfectionism.
If you’re someone who says you’re a perfectionist, take a look inside of that.
The pursuit of flawlessness can disguise the underlying fear of failure, of inadequacy, of not being enough.
If you can put yourself on a pedestal that you’re so discerning, that you’re so particular that you won’t settle for less, and so you can’t move forward.
That’s a beautiful(perfectly crafted) way to hide a fear.
Take a look today inside of that perfectionism and see what it’s about.
See if it is truly that you are a discerning person and that you can move forward, you just are discerning, you’re not a perfectionist where you are trapped in it and stopped by it.
But if you are, let’s look at that today.
What is it about?
Where is it coming from?
What stories has it evolved out of?
What is it keeping you from?
When do you pull it out and wield it?
Perhaps it’s time to get some coaching on it and flush it out so you can keep moving forward.
Sending you big love today.
Have a beautiful day.
