I started working completely for myself last year at this time.

I finally let go of all other employment in which I leveraged somebody else’s creative ideas and business to make money.

And I have to say it started before that because I’ve been a private contractor as I worked for somebody else for the last decade.

There was something about leaving that position where I had an automatic paycheck, even though it came to my company as I consulted, to completely being the one whose responsibility it is to generate the income.

My ideas, my energy, and my decision-making are the things, the elements that are creating my livelihood right now.

It takes courage, it takes guts, it takes fortitude to step into entrepreneurship.

What are the benefits?

What are the benefits of taking those risks, stepping into the unknown, and creating a lifestyle from your ideas, from your desire to offer something?

The next two weeks I’m going to spend digging into the elements of running your own business, being your own business, creating your livelihood.

I’m going to talk about the courage it takes, the risks, the uncertainty, the possible failure, the decision-making under pressure, the mindset you need, the constant stepping out of your comfort zone, and the persistence in the face of challenges that it takes, and how worthwhile it is to have your own business.

The flip side of the pressure and the courage and the fortitude, is the deep satisfaction, the independence, the legacy, the creativity that you get to use, the learning and growth that you’re exposed to, the flexibility and work-life balance, the freedom that you feel, the financial rewards, you’re not capped the building of a team, and a culture that you choose, and the fulfillment of your passion and your purpose in this life.

These are complicated, multilayered things that I’ve talked about bit by bit in my general coaching over time.

But I haven’t solidified it in a discussion about being your own business.

These things are looming out there.

They are internal transformational elements to success or failure.
