457 Do You Remember How To Cut Loose?

Remember way back when to a time when you were strictly playing and had nothing in the future on your mind?

For me, I go back to camping every summer and playing with my friends who lived on the block in the morning after breakfast.

The next thing on our mind in summer was to connect with friends a couple houses down and figure out what we were going to do to play in the morning.

We didn’t think about lunch until it was about lunchtime or until we were leaving the house in the morning and our mom said what time we should show up for lunch.

When we went camping for a month, we were unplugged.

We only went into town to do laundry and some shopping, or to visit a relative.

All the rest of our time was spent in the woods, playing in Lake Michigan, on the beach constructing castles, and investigating a leaf to find out what kind of tree it was from.

When we were unplugged, we were totally unplugged, our parents down to every child in the family.

It was a time of exploration and freedom.

Think of a time that when you were carefree.

Spend ten or 15 minutes there today or tomorrow morning in a meditation, familiarizing yourself with that feeling, of being unhooked.

Remember what it was like not to be in the moment, but planning a future moment.

Remember what it it was like to be so present that anything you were meant to see, you could pick up on.

The value of this is to remind you what it feels like to be completely unhooked and not working.

Recall the beauty of that time and how full of possibility it was, so you can get back into it between each work session you have during the day, and on the weekend.
