465 Do You Quit The Game Early?
This is Anne with your Coaching On The Go.
I’m reading an interesting new book called Smarter Not Harder, about biohacking.
When I was little, my dad was a technical college teacher and he liked his time with us.
He was a strict guy, but he liked his family time and his downtime.
He played a lot.
He was somebody who was exercising to de-stress.
He was a runner way back in the sixties, before running shoes, and he was constantly exercising.
I could tell his exercise was a form of play and he got us involved in it.
We worked out, camped, played basketball, and went to the gym.
We did all sorts of fun things together.
When he would leave work for the summer, we would immediately pack up the trailer and go.
We had a canvas pop-up(camper).
We would go camping right away for the first week.
It would set vacation in motion.
We would end summer with a long stint of camping, maybe 30 days, where we would leave the forest the day before he had to report back to work and he would put everything away.
In the morning when we woke up, he was gone.
It was such a great example.
I didn’t really think about it, but he was maximizing his downtime and then coming fresh back to work with a great attitude.
When I started teaching, I did the same thing.
I would cut loose and ride my bike home on the last day.
The first day, I would come in excited to be back because I had filled my downtime, my off time, with adventures, experiences and unplugged moments.
That’s what I am aiming you towards.
This week we’re talking about your schedule, what your day looks like, what your week looks like, and what your weekend looks like.
So start taking notes.
Document what you are doing, and what your schedule is looking like.
I’m going to support you with this audit of how you spend time.
Have a beautiful day.
