513 How To Boost Innovation And Problem Solving Skills Through Art
This is Anne with your Coaching On The Go.
Engaging in creative projects, whether putting wood together, drawing, painting, or doing something you’ve never done before, can boost your innovation and problem-solving skills.
It gives you new perspectives.
When I have clients work on a piece of clay, they are doing something they’ve never done before.
They’ve got their hands in a material that’s so earthy, it removes judgment and puts them into play.
Then I have them solve a problem with that clay.
When they do that, they start to play, let go, and become innovative.
Because the clay is forgiving, it allows them to erase, redo, and change things.
They can come up against a problem they don’t know how to solve and start to think outside the box.
It creates new perspectives.
It pushes entrepreneurs to think outside the box and approach problems in different ways from different angles.
This fresh perspective leads to innovative solutions within their business.
They get used to using that muscle of flexibility, openness and trust,
It carries over into their business.
It also expands cognitive flexibility.
When you are engaging in a creative endeavor, like working on a piece of clay at Otihuate, writing, designing something, or decorating, it enhances your mental flexibility, and enables you to adapt more easily to, for example, a changing market, economy, or a change within the silo you provide a service or product for.
It coaxes you to think more dynamically about what you are doing.
It connects you with your authenticity and flexibility in your direction.
So I want to introduce to you doing studio work, whether it’s drawing, painting, cooking, woodworking, or building a small sculpture, I’m going to start having you play like you did as a child, even if you pick up crayons and paper or start coloring in a coloring book.
I challenge you to do creative projects that cause you to step into a territory you’ve never been to.
Have a beautiful day.
