Creativity and play are important for a great life.

This might not seem important.

It may seem trivial, but it helps reduce stress and burnout.

It gives you an emotional outlet and life balance.

Throughout my life, when I dig too deeply into trying to prove myself or get things done, I notice that I cut away the creative activities

That reduces the joy I have in life and the playful navigating of possibility.

Creativity, play, art, and creating is important to your inner joy (your inner child).

It’s an emotional outlet.

If you take out a coloring book for 15 minutes a day, it offers a productive way to express your emotions and relieve stress.

It helps in your life and business.

If you are creating business or hatching an idea to clear your mind, it’s one of those activities you could do in your dowtime, to take a mental break (like unloading a dishwasher is for me drawing and working in my studio).

It opens up a channel in my brain, unhooks me from all the to-do’s, and creates a sense of ease.

It also can let me express myself.

There have been times when things are challenging. 

When I get in the studio with my hands in clay, it works out the stress and creates balance.

When you do something creative, whether it’s baking, cooking a creative meal, taking a class, doing a piece of artwork, or trying something you’ve never done before, it helps you maintain a work-life balance.

We talk about the five-hour workday, which is essential for sustaining a long-term, healthy lifestyle where you are motivated, getting breaks, rest, and fun in addition to work.

Start gathering some art supplies of your choice.

Look around and see what you have.

What is the most common thing you could use to start creating, that is second nature to you?

It may be a pencil, set of markers, coloring book, puzzle., photos to edit to make an interesting letterheader or logo.

I encourage you to do something where you are working with your hands and not at a computer.

Start creating a box of supplies for yourself.
