As you delve into something creative, some form of play, you enhance focus and discipline.

Each time you have a different block in your schedule that you are working around and honor that block of time, it enhances your discipline with time, and it magnifies focus.

Working on a creative project gives you a variety of skill sets and magnifies those.

The skills that support you in completing a project, especially the projects that require focus and long-term dedication, like writing a book, painting, building something, or problem-solving through a piece of artwork, help you as a business person to develop discipline and long-term project management skills.

You may be thinking, “Well, it’s just a creative project, so how is that going to support?”

Amidst your busy schedule, managing time throughout the week for your creative muse to show itself, enhances your trust with yourself, that you’ll honor your commitments.

This can directly translate into more effective management of your business because if you honor your work time and you don’t multitask during the work time and then you delve into your playtime, making sure that it’s unplugged from work, you develop trust within yourself that you are going to give yourself breaks for mental clarity, variety, and rest.

This also kicks up the flow state.

When you engage in creative tasks, even if it’s gardening on a regular basis, it leads you into the flow state where you are deeply focused and immersed in an activity that’s not your work.

Today, as I was taking a walk, near the end of the walk, I was in a flow state.

A beautiful flow of ideas came to me all at once, one after the other.

When I got home, I jotted those ideas down.

They were solutions to business problems I was thinking about during the day.

By taking the time to unplug and get into a creative place, I was able to have a download that increased my productivity and efficiency.

As you go out to play and allow yourself to be a child in the fun and joy, there are so many advantages that present themselves.

Today’s focus is on how creative play enhances focus, discipline, and trust, knowing that when you work hard, you also play hard, rest, and recover.
