532 Do You Play Anymore?
This is Anne with your Coaching On The Go.
How long has it been since you went all out playing?
Adults don’t play very much.
They might laugh or get together as a group, but I am talking all out playing without boundaries.
I remember when I was little, I would get up in the morning.
I couldn’t wait to finish certain things so I could find out what my girlfriend was doing a couple houses down.
We would run out of our back doors and be together.
Whether she was picking me up to go to school or we were off for the weekend, we had play to embark on.
It was our focus.
It was a must.
It was a non-negotiable.
Even on the days when we went to school, we were jumping in puddles or cracking the ice on puddles with our boots or perhaps playing Stinkfish, if you know what that is.
As you get older, most people stop playing.
I remember being in a challenged state, and a lot was going on in my personal life.
I was going through the beginnings of a very shocking divorce when I heard a group of men walk by my front window and they had a football.
They were laughing and they were heading to the playground.
I thought, “Wow, someone’s going out to play today.”
“Isn’t that amazing?”
I remember in the throes of not loving my teaching career, deciding I would add a couple of play elements, and how those changed my outlook.
I will get into some of those details as I talk with you for the next few days about the benefits of play in the hope you get out and start practicing how to play and get good at it.
It’s going to change your life.
Have a beautiful day.
