What do you think the biggest benefit of play is?

Stress relief – Relaxation!

Play reduces your stress levels.

It helps reduce cortisol levels, that’s the stress hormone, providing a mental and emotional break from your daily responsibilities, to-do lists, and challenges.

It gives you a break from adulting and promotes relaxation.

When you engage yourself in high-level play, it provides a sense of joy.

That’s where joy spontaneity, resourcefulness, and relaxation shows up, helping you unwind from your routine.

When I do the Otiwote Experience, I put a lot of elements in the retreat to take people out of their normal schedule so they are free from the constructs of a normal day.

We do things like putting our phones and any other digital devices away, getting off a schedule, eating at different times, and doing things we wouldn’t be doing at certain times of the day or in different seasons.

In my life, I have found that shaking things up, and moving things around, has helped to get me in the flow of ideas and hunches, relaxed me, and helped me to be in the moment.

As I do this, I’m going to talk about the benefits.

Think about what it would take for you, an adult your age, to completely unhook to play.

Take notes on that.

If you can remember back to a time when you were playing and free.

When I think of play, it brings freedom to mind.
