563 How To Create Your Fleeting Idea

This is Anne with your Coaching On The Go.

This time of year and all times of year actually, I like to talk about creating and it starts with ideas.

It starts with vision and even before that, with contrast.

I hear a lot of people wanting a smooth life.

A smooth life doesn’t create as many opportunities for getting uncomfortable in such a way that you want something different.

I just finished successfully moving my parents with some of my sisters into their first independent apartment.

It’s in a facility that’s much larger, that has memory care and every other thing, but they are in their own independent apartment.

There are a lot of people in there who aren’t 100 or 91, they are in their 70s.

This place has a lot of education opportunities, doing things with groups, great food, incredible health, like a health club area, et cetera, et cetera.

To accomplish this, I saw what was going on in my parents’ lives.

I could see that if they stayed the same course they were on, things were going to deteriorate.

There were a lot of other variables that made it urgent.

There was contrast going on that was asking for resolution, new ideas, or resourcefulness.

Throughout the process, we got the go ahead from my father to look, so we had one of two on board.

My mom was not on board whatsoever.

So as you are going to create your vision, things come up.

What was coming up in this particular scenario was that my mom was scared to move off the block.

She had a lot of history there.

Her rules and structures were being pushed on.

She was getting agitated, hurt, angry, closed off.

My focus on the vision was essential because, as she would say different things, I could get derailed from the vision.

I stayed focused on that vision.

When she wanted to do things or would ask about things, I would look at the big picture.

“Will it serve in getting her and getting my parents into this into a place that is better for them right now?”

If it didn’t, I didn’t bother myself with it.

If she needed something or wanted something that I wouldn’t necessarily want, but that would help to get her into that target vision, I didn’t get agitated about it, I worked with her so she could have it.

Months and months went by and yesterday was the culmination of a lot of effort, a lot of emotional, spiritual, energetic, and physical energy that was channeled towards a vision.

The vision ended up just as beautiful as I thought it would.

Now, I had other things going on that pushed on my rules and structures.

The vision I had wasn’t not necessarily shared in the same way by the other people I was working with that would be helping to make this happen, so I used a couple different leadership tools.

You know the four levels of leadership.

One is a victim.

Two is someone who’s got a big story that they tell.

The third person is someone who feels like they are responsible for a lot of things, but not everything.

Fourth-level leaders are responsible for everything.

I chose level 4 leadership in this situation, so when things would go on, if someone was starting to lose their ability to stay patient, I would I would go and pick up the baton and continue carrying it forward.

Even one night before the move, there was undermining and dissension going on, and I stayed focused on the vision.

I helped articulate that vision by staying calm with my siblings.

I stuck strongly in it. A

The day that we moved them, we were working like a fine-tuned machine.

It was beautiful.

I had a talk with creation itself the morning of the move.

I got into the bathtub, put my ears underwater, got the air out of my ears so I could hear essentially what you might hear inside the womb, and I had a talk with God and creation.

I visualized a beautiful day of cooperation, love and support, and lo and behold, that is what happened.

I don’t know when you’re listening to this audio, which may be a year from now, but this was one of the biggest challenges in the last few years.

I am the power of attorney medical for my parents, and I execute their wishes.

Sometimes when they are not interested, and I mean, like my mom didn’t realize what would happen, she was looking at the short term discomfort, and so someone who’s a leader, someone who has a vision, and in level four responsibility, they get the opportunity to enroll the people around them and not quit.

You keep enrolling and reenrolling and enrolling.

Can you ever remember a time in your life where you weren’t ready for somebody or something, and somebody saw you there, saw it for you, and continued to work on enrolling you in the idea until you had buy-in, and it became a beautiful thing for you?

These are the continuing benefits of working on yourself and your leadership, working on your ability to be unruffled and undeterred and the benefits that show up for everybody when you do that.

Years ago, I couldn’t have pulled this off.

It’s the constant, never-ending desire and interest in becoming better that has helped in this situation and brought it home.

Sending you big love today in the form of food for thought.

If you struggle with the leadership it takes to create the vision that’s in your mind, let’s go, let’s go together.

I’m here to help you.
