508 Do You Need Space Or Structure?
This is Anne with your Coaching On The Go.
I go back and forth between needing space to function and needing structure so I don’t daydream or dwindle opportunities and time that I could put into something to create with.
Depending on your personality, you can go in one direction or another.
Sometimes creative people fall into the trap of being so open to picking up hunches, that they become like a leaf in the wind, unstructured, lacking purpose and momentum.
The other side of the spectrum is analytical people who need and demand structure.
They can spend so much time creating it and being steeped in it that they miss the hunches.
In yesterday’s coaching, I talked about the balance between working on self-expansion and Vision, doing both at one time, and how they work together.
One reveals the other.
Today I’m talking about balance between having space to pick up hunches and hear your direction intuitively and having the structure for accountability.
That balance is important as well.
Some people have that naturally.
Most people tend to either be overly structured and miss out on the magic or so whimsical they waste a lot of time.
What would it take today for you to have a balance of both?
How could you incorporate more of whatever you don’t have going on so you have a better balance that is more successful?
I am somebody who can resent my calendar, structure, and schedule.
I don’t like people telling me what to do.
I don’t like it when my freedom is being taken away, so I play the game of creating a structure for myself that feels like it’s caring for me.
I make sure I have time to play.
The principles of Trevor Blake’s five-hour workday are beautiful for me.
When I first worked on implementing them, it was difficult for a few reasons.
When I looked over my whole schedule, I realized I don’t work nearly as much as I think.
I work at different hours than a normal human being or than our society lays out as normal.
I began to see when I do work, when I’m productive, and when I’m multitasking (and that happens when I’ve been working for too long).
That multitasking starts to become like a virus.
It infiltrates so wherever and whenever you are either having downtime or work time, it is tainted, not pure, so you are not getting the benefit of feeling like you’ve been off, or had productive work time.
What kind of accountability is best for you?
What can continue your momentum?
What can sustain it and add steam add speed to it?
Look how you are operating and see where you stop your momentum.
Does your momentum stop or get slowed between structure and free time?
Does it get tangled up and slowed between personal development and your Vision?
Where is it stopping or slowing?
How can you create relationships or dance partners with entities that seem like they could be opposite, or waiting on one another?
How can you be doing everything at once?
How can you be living a life of growth AND movement towards your Vision and business success at the same time?
Have a beautiful day.
